Tiruchirappalli or Trichy, situated on the banks of river Cauvery, famous for the Ranganatha Temple at Srirangam, a picturesque island on the river Cauvery. Trichy is a blend of history and tradition, a pilgrim centre as well as a thriving commercial city. Trichy is the fourth largest city in the state. It was then captured by the Vijayanagara Empire. But in 1565 the Vijayanagara empire came to an end and Trichy went under the rule of the Nayaks of Madurai and this was the period during which the city flourished and advanced in the pursuit of anything desirable. After the Nayaks Trichy was ruled by the Marathas, the Nawabs of Carnatic, the French and finally the British. The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple or Thiruvarangam is a Hindu temple dedicated to Ranganatha, a reclining form of the Hindu deity Maha Vishnu, located in Srirangam, Tiruchirapalli. Constructed in the Dravidian Architecture, this temple is glorified by Alvars in their Divya Prabandha and has the unique distinction of being not only the foremost among the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu, but also the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world. It is one of the most illustrious Vaishnava temples in South India rich in legend and history. The temple has played an important role in Vaishnavism history starting with the 11th-century career of Ramanuja and his predecessors Nathamuni and Yamunacharya in Srirangam.
Tiruchirappalli Rockfort is a historic fortification and temple complex built on an ancient rock. It is located in the city of Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. It is constructed on a 83 metres high rock. There are two Hindu temples inside, the Ucchi Pillayar Temple, Rockfort and the Thayumanaswamy Temple, Rockfort. Thiruvanaikaval is one of the five major Shiva Temples of Tamil Nadu representing the Mahābhūta or five great elements; this temple represents the element of water, or neer in Tamil. The sanctum of Jambukeswara has an underground water stream and in spite of pumping water out, it is always filled with water. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where all the four most revered Nayanars have sung glories of the deity in this temple.
Samayapuram Mariamman Temple main deity is a form of supreme mother goddess Durga she is made of sand and clay like many of the traditional Mariamman deities is considered as most powerful Goddess, and hence unlike many other Hindu deities there are no abhishekams conducted to the main deity, but instead the “abhishekam” is done to the small stone statue in front of it. It is believed by the devotees that the Goddess has enormous powers over curing illnesses and hence, it is a ritual to buy small metallic replicas, made with silver or steel, of various body parts that need to be cured, and these are deposited in the donation box. Devotees also offer mavilakku, a sweet dish made of jaggery, rice flour and ghee. Offerings of raw salt is also made to the Goddess by the rural devotees.
Vayalur Murugan Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Muruga, son of Lord Shiva and Parvati, located in the village of Kumaravayalur in Tiruchirapalli. This temple is around 1200 years old and was built during the reign of Cholas. The main deity in the temple is Muruga, it is behind the Moolavar Siva Sannidhi. The other Sannidhis in this temple are Moolavar arulmigu Athi Nathar (Lord Shiva). Agni Theertham also known as Shakthi Theertham. According to a legend, Lord Muruga himself created this tank with his Velayudham. Sthala Vriksham: Vanni Maram (Vanni tree) is seen in the left side from the entrance of rajagopuram.
Vekkali Amman Temple is a temple dedicated to the Goddess Vekkaali, a form of the Goddess Kali. It is located in Woraiyur, a suburb in Tiruchirapalli. The central shrine of the temple houses the image of Vekkali Amman and the major feature of the temple is the absence of roof over the sanctum. The temple is known from the period of early Cholas, but there are no historical records. The people of Woraiyur see Vekkali Amman as their guardian deity. The temple chariot is made of gold and was launched during 2010. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The church is decked out in Gallo-Catholic design, from neo-Gothic spires to anguished scenes of crucifixion and martyrdom painted inside. The main tower is 220 feet in height, and the small tower is 120 feet in height. The statues of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Francis Xavier and St. John de Britto are placed at the center of the tower. The church bell is set at a height of 90 feet.
